This billboard advertises ERIXZ Change design. The logo that was used here is an enhanced version of the older ERIXZ logo. also known as the Erixzicon. The image  is created by Love4design, using a layered composition in Adobe Photoshop CS6. There’s an orange gradient background that seems to be cold enough to make little water drops condense on the screen. On top of the background, the main body of the logo is formed by ten rectangular objects,  or to be more precise, ten parallelograms. The top layer consists of shiny chrome looking letters, masked out of a spiraling black and white image underneath.. The billboard itself is a layered Photoshop document with several smart objects, that was downloaded from the internet, free of charge or royalties.

Transformations 01

Transformations 01: A study on transformations

In this transformation the creme colored classic Jaguar is the static central object. All other objects are in a complex process of transformation from the start of the transformation ( phase 1 ) to the end of it (phase 2 ).

Phase 1 of the transformation is a composition of a dozen individually transformable objects in the object oriented design above.

The individual objects are: the statue of liberty in the central background, several futuristic buildings in the background, several gothic windows in the background, a black and white tiled floor, chrome barrier poles and red cords in the foreground and several minor objects.

About the method of Object Oriented Design (OOD)

This artwork technically is but an assemblage of individual graphical objects and therefor we like to refer to this technique as “object oriented design”. The roots of this technique lay in the era when computer graphic where not a common thing. Back then, art students who needed “quick and dirty designs” for their showcases, just teared off colourful  pieces of glossy magazines to combine colors and shapes into aa convincing piece of art. This vert same method still stands when it comes to transparent objects in layered files.

We used this method ta combine a dozen objects, spread over five individual layers, into the the cream coloured Jaguar that seems to be parked in a Gothic apartment on the top floor of some building that contrasts what seems to be a Chinese skyline, with the statue of liberty in the centre.

What’s next?

In the next post we will be discussing some copyright issues, related to this method.

For this image, that originates from a transparant (png) file we have chosen a Porche Carrera 911 convertible as the model for our decor. The car is placed on top of a very high phantasy building, obviously  constructed in a Gothic style architecture, looking out over a future world with a wide panorama, hence the title “a car with a view”.

To accentuate the importance of the car as the central object of the image, there’s a black and white tile floor played under it and shiny chrome barrier posts on both sides, with a red cord in between . What exactly the meaning is of the goat in this shiny ambiance is left to the viewers imagination.

The Bentley “s” series started in 1955. The car is exceptionally elegant inside and outside. The car looks also impressive which gives a royal aspect to it.

The 3rd generation of the model started in 1962, including the S3 and the Rolls-Royce Cloud III. This version is by far the most complete in terms of mechanic and aesthetics. The main changes are found in the engine in order to have a more powerful car. The car can speed up to 190km/h, which is amazing knowing the weight and the size of this

“SYMBOL OF THE BRITISH LUXURY”

Bentley, a prestigious car brand, was created the 18th of January 1919 by Walter Owen Bentley. He decided to set up his company in the North of London. The success was unbelievably fast. The name Bentley became an international symbol of luxury. The constructor became also well-known in the racing field by winning 5 times the 24h du Mans in the 20’s. But the financial crash in 1929 had many consequences to the brand, and it became hard to recover from it. In 1931, the brand is bought by Rolls Royce.
